01 / MEET YOUR NEW FAVOURITE TOOL

The cut is just
the beginning.

From the first line to the last STL. A guided workflow for turning complex models into manageable, printable parts.

01

Your model. Your cutting line.

Split with one plane or several. Draw a Straight or Smooth cut in the view, or trace a Snapped Loop directly on the surface. Choose the shape that works for your sculpt.

Plane Split · Straight · Smooth · Snapped Loop

02

Cut the neck. Keep the hair.

Choose which separate intersections to cut and which to leave intact. Green areas are cut; grey areas stay together. Protect the details that make your model yours.

Works on separate intersections of closed meshes. A connected area cannot be divided into smaller custom regions.
03

Made to come back together.

Add a tapered square key and socket, pins, separate printed dowels or magnet pockets. Set sizes and clearances in millimetres, then move, rotate and scale the previews before applying them.

Connectors are optional, with a guided placement flow in every cut mode.
04

See the fit before you print.

Explode the pieces to inspect the mating faces and connector previews. Restore the assembly when you're ready. Your preview edits stay with their pieces.

Explode · inspect · adjust · restore
05

The right size. In millimetres.

Enter a target width, depth, height or longest side. Scale an assembled selection together, measure from the active part, or size each object separately. Reuse the same scale factor and pivot to keep other parts aligned.

Uniform scaling keeps proportions. 280 mm means 28 cm.
06

Stay in the flow.

Edit your drawing points with undo and redo. Zoom, pan and orbit while editing Straight and Smooth strokes. Coloured Loop previews show the boundary, surface and cutter, with progress messages for each geometry stage.

Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z · 3D anchored points · clear stage feedback
07

Check the mesh. Keep the original.

Use Mesh Check and Repair to find problems that can break cuts and prints. Cuts use Blender's Manifold Boolean solver by default, with an automatic Exact fallback. The original stays untouched until the cut succeeds.

The optional MCUT engine is available on Windows x64. Individual Boolean operations can still take time.
08

From cut pieces to your print bed.

Lay pieces on their cut faces, restore their assembly, or export separate STL files in millimetres, including printed dowels. Check orientation and print contact in your slicer before printing.

Lay Flat · Restore · Export STL Files

LESS FRICTION. MORE MAKING.

FROM BLENDER MODEL TO PRINTABLE PARTS

How to cut a Blender model
and add alignment keys.

Stranger Cut brings cutting and connector placement into one guided Blender workflow. Start with a checked mesh and a target print size, then work through the cut, the fit and the export.

  1. 01

Choose how to split the model

Use Plane Split for flat cuts, Straight or Smooth to draw a cutting stroke, or Snapped Loop to trace a boundary on the model's surface. Refine the preview before cutting. Select separate cut areas when you need to leave other intersections intact.

  2. 02

Add keys or connectors to the cut

After cutting, choose a tapered square key and socket, pins, a separate printed dowel or magnet pockets. Set the size and clearance in millimetres, place the connector previews, and adjust them before applying. You can also skip connectors for plain cut parts.

  3. 03

Inspect the fit and export the pieces

Explode the parts to inspect their mating faces, then restore the assembly. Lay pieces on their cut faces and export individual STL files in millimetres. Check orientation, supports and connector tolerances in your slicer before printing.

A FEW THINGS, BEFORE YOU CUT

Good questions.

How do I cut a Blender model into parts for 3D printing?

Stranger Cut is a Blender cutting add-on for splitting models into printable parts. Choose Plane Split, draw a Straight or Smooth stroke, or trace a Snapped Loop on the surface. Preview the cut, add optional connectors, inspect the pieces and export separate STL files in millimetres.

Can I add alignment keys to Blender cuts?

Yes. Stranger Cut can add a tapered square key and matching socket to Straight, Smooth and Snapped Loop cuts. Pins, separate printed dowels and magnet pockets are also available, including in Plane Split. Set connector size and clearance in millimetres and adjust the previews before applying.

Can I make magnet holes or dowel connectors in Blender?

Choose magnet pockets or separate printed dowels in Stranger Cut's connector setup. Place the previews on the cut faces, check their clearance and spacing, and apply when they fit. Magnet pockets use millimetre sizes and presets; always check your actual magnets and printer tolerances.

Which Blender versions and systems does it support?

Blender 5.1+ · Windows, macOS & Linux. It uses Blender's built-in Boolean solvers. The optional bundled MCUT engine is available on Windows x64 only.

What do the account bundles include?

The full add-on for one, two or three accounts. At launch, each purchase will include a unique activation code for the number of accounts in your bundle. Get it for yourself and share a bundle with your best friends.

Do I need the updates pass?

It's optional. Your purchase is for the purchased version. Add 50% of the bundle price to receive new versions by email for 12 months from purchase. It is a single payment with no automatic renewal. New releases arrive as development progresses; there is no fixed release schedule.

Can I buy it right now?

We're preparing the launch. Purchases are closed until activation is ready, so you cannot be charged on this page yet. You can explore the tool, compare bundles and help shape the next version on the ideas board.

Will it make every model print-ready automatically?

Check your mesh before cutting and inspect the result in your slicer. Selective cutting requires closed meshes and separate intersections. Print orientation, tolerances and supports still depend on your model, material and printer.
