Send us a sculpt or a character. The studio prints it, paints it by hand, photographs it, sells it and ships it under your name — and you earn a commission on every piece sold.

Two ways in

Whether you sculpt or you draw.

Register as a 2D artist, a 3D artist or both. Sculptors upload printable files; illustrators upload their artwork, and the studio pairs approved characters with a sculptor. Every piece credits both: concept design and 3D design.

A tiny hand-painted guitarist figure held in the studio above a mat of unpainted prints3D artists

You already have a sculpt.

Send the model, or a few renders to start with. We check it will print and paint well at a sensible size, work out supports and any splitting, and print it in fine-detail resin.

Send us

  • STL, 3MF or ZIP files — or renders, to begin the conversation
  • The size you picture the finished piece at
  • Whether the model is already split or pre-supported
A hand-painted figure of the Knight from Hollow Knight, a character drawn for a 2D game2D artists

You have a character on paper.

Illustrators, character designers and comic artists are just as welcome. Share character sheets or turnarounds, and the studio pairs your character with a 3D artist who sculpts it with you, telling you honestly if it cannot become a good 3D piece.

Send us

  • Front, side and back views, if you have them
  • Colour references and the details that matter most
  • Whether the character is your own original work

Who does what

You bring the design. The studio does everything else.

That is the whole list. There is nothing for you to buy, store or post.

How it works

From your design to a piece somebody buys.

  1. 1

    Register as an artist

Create an account, say whether you draw, sculpt or both, and show us some of your work.

  2. 2

We check it can be made well

Printability, scale and painting, looked at honestly. If a piece cannot be made well, we say so.

  3. 3

    Agree the piece together

Scale, material, paint scheme, how many are made and what it sells for.

  4. 4

    Studio review

We check the submitted design, agree any changes and prepare its shop listing.

  5. 5

    It sells, you earn

The piece goes on sale under your name, and you earn a commission on every one sold.

What you earn

A commission on every piece sold.

The standard rate is 75% of each digital STL sale and 10% of each printed figure. Your workspace records each sale and its rate, and the studio reviews balances before manual payout.

Agreed in writing, before anything is listed:

  • Your commission on each piece sold
  • When and how you are paid
  • How you are credited on the listing
  • How either of us can stop

If a design of yours becomes the basis of a made-to-order commission, that piece is quoted on its own, and we agree your fee with you before accepting the job.

Proof it is yours

A numbered certificate with every piece.

It names you as the artist and the studio as the maker. Its number is registered on this site before the piece leaves the studio, so a buyer — or anyone they later sell it to — can check it against the studio’s own record.

Questions artists ask

Before you send anything

Live shipping rates and making times are on the shipping policy, and a buyer’s terms on the return policy.

Do I have to pay for anything?

No. Printing, painting, photography, the shop listing, packing and postage are the studio's work and the studio's cost. There is nothing for you to buy, store or post.

I only draw in 2D. Can I still take part?

Yes. Register as a 2D artist and add character sheets or turnarounds to your application. The studio arranges each pairing with a 3D artist personally, and the split of each sale between you is agreed in writing before anything is listed. After approval you upload artwork for the studio to approve from My 2D designs in the workspace, originals included (.ai, .psd, .pdf and more); originals stay private.

Which files should a 3D artist send?

STL, 3MF or ZIP files work in the current upload workspace. Renders can help the studio understand the piece before you submit a model. Say whether the model is already split into parts or pre-supported.

How much will I earn?

The standard commission is 75% of each digital STL sale and 10% of each printed figure, with the rate recorded on the order. Any different rate is agreed and shown before a listing goes live. The studio pays 20% tax on every sale through its shop, so if you already sell files on your own platform, selling your STLs there directly can leave you more.

Will my name be on the piece?

Yes. Every product can credit two artists, “Concept design by” and “3D design by”, each linking to that artist’s page with their portrait, bio and the social links they choose to share, plus every piece they worked on. The studio is credited as the maker, not the author.

Who handles delivery?

The studio. Every order is packed and posted from London, in the UK and worldwide, with tracking and customs paperwork done here. A piece that arrives damaged or never arrives is remade at the studio's cost, never out of your share.

Become a Stranger Hands artist

Tell us whether you draw in 2D, sculpt in 3D or both, add a few pieces of your work, your portfolio and your socials. After approval, sculptors upload their first design and illustrators upload artwork for approval, ready to be paired with a sculptor.

  • A portfolio and a short introduction help us get to know your work.
  • You can add an avatar and social links so buyers can find you.
  • The first design stays private until studio review and publication.
